This book offers the good overview of a history of an Attacker and Clyde Canal. It comprises a geographic reason partorisca a location of a canal; inter rivalry of city among Edinburgh and Glasgow, obstacles the construction; administration, Finance; help of Government and finally a canal in operation.

Has found a the majority of the interesting part of a book was a construction of a canal.

Some obstacles to the construction of a canal was a formation of rock, quicksand, mossy bogs, a discovery of Roman places and some rests of Covenanters, recruiting and retaining hard-working and, surprisingly, water supply.

A construction was the massive operation with a real that cut of the canal of on thirty miles, and building aqueducts of entities and smaller, 39 locks, 35 drawbridges and miles of streets.

Has not thought some chapters on administration, Finance; and the help of Government was like this interesting, although essential to the plenary comprising of a construction of a canal. This takes on roughly 20 of a book.

Especially some the financial appearances of such the big construction are lost because of the money is not translated to today of terms. That a cost advanced of a canal in £1000,00 bad in today of terms? An author does not offer any translation.

A book does not comprise industrial archaeology, like this readers those who use a canal, and is interested in this appearance of his history, could be disappointed.

Also this is not drives to use a canal, so that the readers would owe that look for other books thus purpose.

Until I have read this book I not having never @@give that a canal was a catalyst for a lot an industrialisation of this zone, and in fact of Scozia. Like this the appearance of a book was the good source of knowledge.

In general a book was enjoyable, and is the point of good start for those with more than the interest of any in a Forward and Clyde Canal.
4 / 5 Annita
This interesting history of an Attacker and Clyde the canals covers period 1765(his inception) to 1790(his conclusion, his period of increase and fall and finally his renaissance with one links via a Falkirk Goes to a canal of Union in 2002.
A history is very said of Scotlands feat of engineering more orders of his time and likes to transform travesía of of the one of the east to of the one of the west.
Has the good schematic map and notes and bibliography more appendicies covering another relavent details. The better pictures would owe that it has been resupplied likes those have published to the left a book down.
